Autogas-Marine

Marine engine LPG conversion specialists

Technical Information

  • LPG has long had an outstanding record as a popular safe automotive fuel  in many countries.  However, until recently, in Marine pleasure boating, LPG was only known as a fuel for onboard cookers.

  • The development of sophisticated electronic safety and engine management technology has now made it possible to safely utilize LPG as a replacement or bi-fuel for petrol engine boats.
LPG Tank Kit
  • LPG is stored in the liquid form in the on-board tanks.  Storage and leak detection standards are very high and are  automatically monitored.

  • The only engine accessory which is removed from the petrol engine is the air filter which is replaced with another filter which forms part of the LPG carburetor.  All other Marine LPG components are added on to the engine.

  • LPG components can also be removed and transferred to a new boat.

LPG Carburretor Kit
  • Fuel tanks come in various shapes and sizes, are fitted according to available space and to the boat owner's cruising requirements.  Tanks are pre-treated with a special marine resistant finish.

  • The boat can be  operated on LPG or petrol as required.
  • The electronic engine management system  is programmed to adapt to and respond to different boating circumstances in the most appropriate and safe way.
  • Marine installations must only be carried out by fully qualified personnel.  Autogas-Marine guarantees all installations.
LPG Alarm Kit
  • Whether in a marina, at anchor, or cruising, the boat is constantly monitored against any gas or petrol leaks.  The detection threshold is set to a very low level of tolerance.  This means that leakages are detected well before they reach dangerous concentrations.  Depending on various circumstances, the system  will shut down all fuel tanks, isolating  the leak.

  • FUEL CONSUMPTION - LPG  is consumed at practically the same rate as petrol.  Due to the difference in calorific values, there is a 10-15% power loss at high speed especially under load.  At cruising speeds the power loss is negligible.  Nevertheless, this is a small price to pay for the massive cost savings LPG provides.
